Sets and set information in Dips can be saved in various ways.
Saving Set Windows in a DWP File
The Set Windows that you have defined on the stereonet can be saved in a DWP file. A DWP file is used to save the Set Window limits (and also Added Planes and Tools).
A DWP file can be automatically saved when you save the Dips file.
A DWP file can be manually saved with the Save Planes / Tools File option in the File menu.
When a DWP file is opened, the Set Window limits which are saved in the DWP file, will be used to create new Sets for the current Dips file. For more information see the Save Planes / Tools File topic.
Saving the Set Column
The Set ID numbers which appear in the Set Column, can also be saved. This can occur when any of the following options are used:
Save As
However, note that when a Set Column is saved in a Dips file, the Set Column actually becomes an "Extra" column, and only preserves the Set ID numbers. If you only save the Set ID numbers in the Set Column, then Sets as defined in Dips, will not exist when you open the Dips file. In order to re-create Sets when you open a Dips file, you must save the Set Windows to a DWP file, as described above.
Furthermore, for the Query Data and Rotate Data options, the Set Column will ONLY be saved if the "Save Set Column as an Extra Column" checkbox is selected in the Preferences dialog. If this checkbox is NOT selected, then the Set ID column will NOT be saved to the new file which is created after using Query Data or Rotate Data.
Saving Set Statistics
The Set Statistics for the currently defined Sets on the stereonet, are recorded in the Info Viewer. If you wish to save this information, use the Copy option to copy the contents of the Info Viewer to the clipboard, and then paste the text into a word processor, and save it as a file. Note that the Copy option is available in the Edit menu, or you can right-click in the Info Viewer view and select Copy from the popup menu.
